Watch Our PSAs
In 2003, EVS worked with the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Council of La Raza to complete the final phase of the nation’s first Spanish-language television public education campaign on the problem of lead poisoning in the home. As a result of this award-winning effort, millions of Latino families were given their first exposure to information about the most common places where lead can be found, and the serious health consequences suffered by children and adults who come into contact with this environmental hazard.
The first television spot produced for the campaign was broadcast hundreds of times on Spanish-language television. The centerpiece of the final phase of the prevention effort was a 30-second television PSA designed to alert Latino parents to the fact that lead poisoning screenings are not part of regular pediatric exams, and that in order to protect the health of their children, they must ask primary care physicians to perform this test.
In addition to the television spots, EVS produced two posters for the campaign, which have been distributed to more than 300 bilingual clinics and community-based organizations nationwide.
EVS has also developed and broadcast an award-winning drug abuse prevention television public service spot for the U.S. Office of Minority Health. The powerful message was the result of numerous focus group sessions held with Latino youth, and was successfully broadcast throughout the United States and Latin America by the Univision and Telemundo television networks.
In 2000, EVS completed work on television and radio public service announcements focusing on domestic violence, and conducted an innovative national focus group study designed to learn more about the channels of communication used by Latino families in the United States.
